    Antonovich Has Idea About Castaic High School

     Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich has initiated discussions with representatives from Newhall Land and the William S. Hart Union School District to consider utilizing a portion of a 450-acre parcel on the Castaic Mesa to build a much-needed High School.  

    Newhall To Appoint Two New Principals

    The Governing Board of the Newhall School District will be asked to appoint two new principals at their February 20th meeting.  Candace Fleece will be recommended as principal of Stevenson Ranch Elementary School and Cynthia McCarty will be recommended for the position at Pico Canyon Elementary School.
     

     

    Kings Lose 3-2

    On Saturday night, the LA Kings lost to the Anaheim Ducks 3-2 in a shootout.  Tune in on Sunday at 4:30pm, when the Kings will again take on the Ducks, LIVE on KHTS.

    Free Health Screenings Offered At Health Fair

    In recognition of Heart Health Month, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital presents a free “Care for Your Heart” Health Fair on Friday, February 23, 2007, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Activities Center, 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway in Santa Clarita.

     

    Fair participants will receive a Heart Health Passport and can take part in a series of free health screenings, such as height and weight measurement, blood pressure monitoring, cholesterol measurement, body fat analysis/body mass index, and pulse oximetry and carbon monoxide measurement for smokers.

     

    Smyth Looking To Ease Tax Burden On Seniors

    Assemblyman Cameron Smyth, R-Santa Clarita, announced that he has introduced legislation to help seniors by increasing a tax exemption for homeowners and renters age 62 and older. 

    High School Basketball Scores

    In the first round of the boys high school basketball playoffs, the Canyon Cowboys fell to the Serra Cavilers 76-50.  In other local action, Hart lost to St. Bernard 59-55, Valencia lost to Chaparral 67-53, Saugus lost to Cajon 57-56, and Golden Valley lost to Pasadena 70-39.

    Fmr. Assemblyman Richman To Head Providence Campaign

    Image Dr. Keith Richman, the former State Assemblyman for Santa Clarita and other areas has taken up an offer to head a campaign to build a new 101 bed tower at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center.

    Richman was a practicing physician for many years before entering politics, a career move that ultimately earned him high marks among his constituents.

     

    KHTS Sports Commentator Called One Of The Best

    ImageKHTS Sportscaster Tony Moskal, who can be heard with Dave Caldwell broadcasting live High School football on AM 1220, was given honorable mention as one of the top sportscasters in Los Angeles. It was printed in today’s Tom Hoffarth column in the Daily News.
