    "Monster Mash" Singer Passes Away

    Bobby "Boris" Picket dead at age 69.


    In a sad day for Santa Clarita, Bobby "Boris" Picket has passed away due to complications regarding his battle with leukemia.


    Picket was best known for his classic Halloween song  "Monster Mash," which is still played throughout the country in October. 


    Buck McKeon Says No To Timeline

    Walk for a cure, walk to be healthy, walk to keep your joints moving, walk for the millions affected by this painful and debilitating disease.  Join Honorary Walk Chair, Assemblyman Cameron Smyth and Walk Co-Chairs Cheri and Don Fleming to take action against arthritis by participating in the 2007 Arthritis Walk.  The annual nationwide event kicks off in late April and May during national Arthritis Month, raising funds and awareness to fight arthritis, the nation’s leading cause of disability. 


    Sheriff's Station To Recognize Volunteers

    Many give up their time to aid in the safety of Santa Clarita.

    The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Booster Club will host a luncheon to honor the volunteers of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. These volunteers tirelessly and selflessly give their time, day in and day out, all year long to help the residents of the Santa Clarita Valley.


    Domestic Violence Center Bowls A Strike

    Community comes out to help fight Domestic Violence.

    What could be better than having fun while raising money for a good cause?  On April 15th, at Valencia Lanes, many excited and generous men and women came to contribute to the Domestic Violence Center while enjoying a Saturday afternoon bowl with family and friends. 


    But, bowling was not the only activity taking place that day.  There also was a silent auction and raffle; involving many desirable prizes.  At the end of the day, the Domestic Violence Center had raised an impressive amount of $9,000.

    The Santa Clarita Choral Educators 22nd Annual Choral Music  Festival will be held on Monday, April 30, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. in the Hart High  School Auditorium.


    Strife Over Open Space

    Mayor finds engineer's report unclear.

    Two weeks ago, the Santa Clarita City Council voted to garner an engineer’s report, to initiate the process of putting forth a ballot to add an assessment of $25 per year to property tax for the purchase of open space.


    Proponents of the idea say that buying open space in and around Santa Clarita will preserve a greenbelt around the town, and ensure that overdevelopment does not occur.


    Opponents proclaimed that it was just a clever way of avoiding the 2/3 vote needed for a tax increase.


    Dodgers Drop Third Straight 6-2

    The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the San Fransico Giants on Wednesday night 6-4, thanks in part to a first inning Barry Bonds home run.  You can hear the Dodgers attempt to salvage the final game of this three-game series, Thursday night beginning at 6:30pm on KHTS.
