    CHP Set To Nab Speeders In Stevenson Ranch

    Complaints prompt crackdown

    To improve traffic flow and public safety for the Stevenson Ranch community, the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a speed restrictions and radar speed enforcement on Pico Canyon Road between Whispering Oaks Road and Chiquella Lane, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

    Stolen Rolex recovered in joint department investigation

     

    ImageDetectives from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station's Burglary and Theft Team arrested a burglary suspect at his Winnetka home Tuesday. The suspect, MW/18, was wanted in connection with a burglary incident which occurred at the Ben Bridge Jewelers in the Westfield Town Center on April 9th, 2007.

    Neighborhood Leaf-Out Program Shows Residents Importance of Trees

     

    The City of Santa Clarita is encouraging residents of all ages to attend the 18th Annual Arbor Day Celebration at Central Park on Saturday, May 19, 2007.  The event, which will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., is free of charge and serves to educate residents about the benefits of trees as part of the world-recognized Arbor Day holiday.

    Providence Saint Joseph Gets $1-million Check

    Gift to be Used to Help Build The Roy and Patricia Disney Cancer Center

    The Walt Disney Company Foundation presented a $1- million check to Raul Mena, MD, medical director of cancer services at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, in honor of T. J. Baptie, who recently retired as the company’s vice president of community relations for Disney Worldwide Outreach. The check presentation was made during a special ceremony held May 10, on the Disney campus in Burbank.

     

    DISARM Sweep Nets $1 Million In Drugs

    Success continues with program.

    On May 10, 2007, D.I.S.A.R.M officers paired with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Community Oriented Multi-agency Narcotics Enforcement Team (COMNET) recovered 1,448 lbs of marijuana and one ounce of methamphetamine during a warrant search of a probationer’s household in Huntington Park, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich. 

     

    Record Number Of Seniors Expected To Graduate

    Several ceremonies scheduled. 

    The Hart District is once again expecting a record number of seniors to graduate, in ceremonies running from June 4 to 8 across the valley.

     

    The district currently lists 3380 seniors, compared to only 3060 seniors at the same time last year. This year’s graduation exercises are scheduled as follows:

     

    Monday, June 4 – Valencia High School, 7:30 p.m. at College of the Canyons.

     

    Tuesday, June 5 – Hart High School, 7 p.m. at COC; Learning Post, 6:30 p.m., Hart Auditorium.

     

    Signal Publisher Budman Resigns

    Richard Budman is no longer with Santa Clarita’s newspaper.

    In a shocking bit of news for Santa Clarita, Signal Publisher Richard Budman has resigned.

     

    Budman was a vocal figure in Santa Clarita both behind the scenes and in the public eye, as head of Santa Clarita’s newspaper.

     

    Calls to the Signal were not immediately returned.
