    D.U.I. Checkpoint

    The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station conducted a D.U.I. sobriety checkpoint Friday evening.

    It got underway at 7 p.m. & concluded at 3 a.m. Saturday morning, on the westbound Lyons Avenue, west of Avenida Dorena.  There were a total of 1,036 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint with 1,036 screened. 

    Of that number, 23 vehicles were pulled off the line where the drivers received further testing.  None of these drivers were arrested for D.U.I. at the checkpoint.

    Kings Win 4-1

    On Saturday night, the Kings won their second game in a row, defeating the Phoenix Coyotes 4-1.  Be sure to listen to KHTS on Monday at 6:30, when the Kings will take on the Vancouver Canucks.

    Looking to purchase tickets for some holiday shows?  The Vital Express Center wants those who plan on purchasing tickets for events, like the upcoming show, “Sha Na Na,” to be aware of the center’s main box office’s temporary move and holiday box hours. 

    Kings Win 4-3

    On Friday night, the Kings beat the Mighty Ducks 4-3, in a game that went to a shootout, which the Kings won 2-0.  Be sure to listen to the Kings next game, Saturday at 7:00 here on KHTS, when the Kings will take on the Phoenix Coyotes.

    Local Valencia Resident Selected as Senate Fellow

    Senator George Runner (R- Antelope Valley) has selected Julius Chen, a local Valencia resident, to work in his Capitol office on legislative issues this year. Julius Chen is one of the 18 Senate Fellows selected from 450 applicants.  Julius Chen, a William S. Hart High School alumnus, recently graduated from Princeton University.

    As of December 12, students can register for both the new Winter Session and the Spring Semester at College of the Canyons, with an extended fee deadline until Friday January 13. Registration details are as follows:

    Sheriffs to conduct D.U.I. checkpoint

    The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station will be conducting a D.U.I. checkpoint on Friday, December 16th from 7:00 p.m. through 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning. The goal of the checkpoint is to educate the community on the hazards of drunken driving while enforcing the D.U.I. laws of the State of California. The checkpoint is an ongoing attempt to safely remove drunken drivers from our streets. The location of the checkpoint will address concerns based on D.U.I. activity in that area.

    Kings lose 3-2

    The Los Angeles Kings lost tonight against the Washington Capitols.  Throughout the game penalties plagued both teams.  Late in the 3rd period the Capitols scored preventing the Kings from possibly taking the win in overtime.  Tune in to your Hometown Station AM1220 KHTS, this Friday the 16th at 7:00pm for more exciting Los Angeles Kings Hockey. 

    Maintenance Approved for Pico Canyon Road

    To provide the best possible service to the public in a cost-effective manner, a contract with Alma Gardening Company will include monthly landscape maintenance services along the Pico Canyon Road Median, announced Mayor Michael D. Antonovich. The maintenance will cover the Pico Canyon Road Median from approximately 170 feet west of Whispering Oaks Road to Stevenson Ranch Parkway in the Santa Clarita Valley.
