    County Budget Claims To Beef Up Safety Funding

    $22 Billion budget said to support Sheriff, DA

    Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich issued the following statement on the Chief Administrative Officer’s 2007-08 budget:

    “This budget recognizes the vital need to restore past cuts in public safety that will add an additional 187 positions to the Sheriff’s Department.  The Probation Department will receive 45 new positions and the District Attorney’s Office will have additional 25 positions -- including 14 deputy District Attorneys at several new courts to handle increased workloads.

    Castaic High makes another baby step towards its future development

    On June 19th, another Los Angeles County Planning Commission meeting was held, to try to move forward the plans to build a new high school in Castaic. The school had been on a path to open its doors in 2010, however, that may have been pushed back to 2011 after this latest meeting.

    CHP Issues Challenge

    Can California have a fatality free holiday?

     California Highway Patrol Commissioner Mike Brown has issued a challenge to the motorists this Independence Day holiday; one entire day with no traffic fatalities throughout the state.

    Since 1968, when record keeping began, there have been only three days when death took a holiday from California roadways. The most recent fatal free day was September 12th, 2000. The other two were May 1 1991, and March 11th, 1968.

    Many who responded to our article were disgusted that someone would put information about where to find pre-pubescent girls on the internet, and could legally do so.

    The downtown Newhall re-striping and signal improvement project is nearing completion, with roadblocks appearing on San Fernando Road and Lyons Avenue in Newhall.
