    Neighborhood Leaf-Out Program Shows Residents Importance of Trees The City of Santa Clarita is proud to present its annual Arbor Day Celebration, on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at Central Park. The event, which will run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, is held each year to educate residents about the benefits of trees as part of the world-recognized Arbor Day holiday. Central Park is located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road.

    Sharon Runner's Child Pornography Legislation Passes First Committee

    Sacramento – Assemblywoman Sharon Runner’s (R-Lancaster) legislation to include commercial computer technicians as mandatory reporters of child pornography passed through the Assembly Public Safety Committee today.
    “This is a big victory,” Runner said.  “Our legislators are becoming more aware of the issues relating to sex offenders and they are finally doing something about it.”

    Local Advertising Professionals Honored at ADDYs

    The suspense finally ended Sunday night for local advertising professionals who entered the first-ever local ADDY® Awards. Twelve winners took home Gold, Silver and Bronze awards in 23 categories as the Advertising Professionals of North Los Angeles County (AdPros) announced the results of the contest during a dinner held at Hyatt Valencia. All of us in the design field work so hard behind the scenes, so it’s nice to be rewarded for our efforts,” said Best of Show winner Chris Macabitas, who serves as in-house creative director at Marzochi Performance Suspension Systems.

    Dodgers win 5-4

    The Los Angeles Dodgers had their first win of the season tonight beating the Atlanta Braves 5-4.  After only and inning and a half, a rain delay was called. Lasting not even 30 minutes play was resumed with an energetic Dodger team.  The Dodgers were able to keep the lead even through the inclement weather.  Tune in to your Hometown Station AM1220 KHTS for more exciting Los Angeles Dodgers baseball. 

    Runner's Efficient School Construction Bills Killed In Committee By Union Lobby

    Sacramento – Today, the Assembly Business and Professions Committee killed legislation authored by Assemblywoman Sharon Runner (R-Antelope Valley) to help streamline the bureaucratic school construction process. 
    “It is mind boggling to me how bills that will cut costs, save schools thousands and thousands of dollars, and streamline bureaucracy get voted down with virtually no debate, on a partisan line vote,” Runner said.  “This is a perfect example of the kind of strangle hold special interests still have on the Capitol.”

    The Los Angeles County Fraud Hotline, sponsored by Los Angeles County Mayor Michael D. Antonovich and managed by the Department of Auditor-Controller, is now available online at www.lacountyfraud.org
     
    Since its inception in 1988 by Supervisor Antonovich, the Los Angeles County Fraud Hotline has been one of the most powerful fraud detection and prevention tools available to County management and has saved taxpayers roughly $16 million dollars.
