Bone Marrow Drive for Local Boy

Local Stevenson Ranch resident Ryan Baker was diagnosed with Leukemia at 5 years old. After intense chemotherapy the leukemia was gone and Ryan had a new leash on life. Ryan is now 12 years old and has had a relapse. He is now going through intense chemotherapy and is in need of a bone marrow transplant.

In supporting Sen. Speier's legislation requiring Global Positioning Systems for High Risk sex offenders, Los Angeles County Mayor Michael D. Antonovich also called on State Legislators to enact more comprehensive provisions included in the Jessica's Law legislation championed by Senator George Runner and Assemblywoman Sharon Runner. "To protect our children and families, it is essential that there are mandatory minimum sentences for child molesters, legal loopholes are eliminated and 2,000 foot "predator-free" zones are created around schools and parks," said Mayor Antonovich.

The Los Angeles Kings beat the Atlanta Thrashers 8-6. King Luc Robitaille scored a hat trick (three goals in a game) making the last goal in an empty Thrashers net. Not only did Robitaille seal the Kings victory but also beat the Franchise goal record of 550 scoring 552 with tonight’s game. Route 126 Pavement Replacement Project- FULL FREEWAY CLOSURE PLANNED

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close portions of State Route 126 as part of a 13-mile pavement replacement project. The entire project extends from the Ventura Freeway (U.S. 101) to Hallock Drive. The following closures are weather permitting and subject to change:

Nightly, Sunday, January 22, through Thursday January 26:

· 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. – full freeway closure of eastbound Route 126 from Briggs Road to Peck Road
