    Tom Kite Wins AT&T Classic

     Tom Kite won his eighth career title on the Champions Tour and ended

     a victory drought of 30 Champions Tour events and just over 19 months.

    Before today, Kite’s last victory on the Champions Tour came at the

    2004 3M Championship.



    ·     Tom Kite became the first two-time winner at Valencia and joined Joe

     Inman (1998, 1999, 2000) and Gil Morgan (1996, 1997, 2004) as multiple

    winners of the AT&T Classic.



    Lane Closures For I-5 Carpool Lane Construction 3/13 – 3/16

    Caltrans will close the following lanes of the Golden State Freeway (I-5), as part of a
    $41.6-million project to construct High Occupancy Vehicle, (HOV), or carpool lanes, on northbound and southbound I-5 from State Route 118 to State Route 14:
     
    DAILY -- MONDAY, MARCH 13 THROUGH THURSDAY, MARCH 16:
    5 a.m. to 2 p.m. – One lane of northbound I-5 from State Route 210 to State Route 14

    Richman Campaign Hits Airwaves

    California Business Owner and State Assemblyman Keith Richman began running the first radio and television spots in this year's race for State Treasurer this week.   
    The radio and television ads that introduce voters to Richman's impressive business, medical and legislative careers and his fiscally responsible values can be seen and heard in Los Angeles, the Central Valley and in Orange County.  

    Kings Win 2-1

    On Saturday night, the Kings beat the Blues 2-1, winning a shootout 1-0 on a goal by Luc Robitaille.  You can hear the Kings next game on KHTS, Monday at 7:00pm, when they will take on the San Jose Sharks.

    City Holds Grand Opening for New Trail

    The City of Santa Clarita is proud to announce the grand opening of the Canyon View Regional Trail, to be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 10:00 am. Mayor Laurene Weste and members of the City Council will be on hand to cut the ribbon for the new trail, which includes a half mile of Class I shared-use bike paths and pedestrian walkways along the Santa Clara River. The new Canyon View Regional Trail extends from Canyon View Drive at the Soledad Canyon Road Bridge over-crossing, where the Santa Clara River Trail terminates, to the future site of Discovery Park.

    Bipartisan Request to Audit Prop 71 Committee Approved

    (SACRAMENTO) --- Amid reports of excessive expenditures and inappropriate, Senator George Runner (R-Antelope Valley) and Senator Deborah Ortiz (D-Sacramento) presented a request to the Joint Legislative Audit Committee late yesterday afternoon for the State Auditor to conduct a performance audit of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) and the Independent Citizen’s Oversight Committee (ICOC) which were created by Proposition 71.
     

    Winter Weather Hits SCV

     

    Snow fell in higher elevations Friday afternoon around Santa Clarita. Temperatures overnight are expected to reach the lower 30s with rain possible into Saturday. The snow level expected to be as low as 2000 feet.

    Hart Falls 58-42

    The Hart Indians girls basketball team saw their great season come to an end on Thursday night, as they lost to Lynwood 58-42, in the CIF State Southern Regional Semifinal.

    Kings Lose 7-3

    On Thursday night, the Kings fell to the Red Wings 7-3.  You can hear the Kings next game on KHTS, Saturday at 4:30pm, as they will take on the St. Louis Blues.
