    Power Outage In Canyon Country Affects 3100 Homes

    A power outage caused by a malfunctioning underground switch affected approximately 3100 Southern California Edison customers in Canyon Country Monday, At approximately 9:15am, the outage occured, and power was quickly restored to approximately 2700 houses. The remaining 400 were brought back online by approximately 6pm.

    Health Department Extends Popular “A” Restaurant Grade To Homeowners

    Building on the popularity of its ABC restaurant grading system, the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) invites County residents to display the coveted "A" placard in their home kitchens following completion of an online inspection.
     

    Route 126 Pavement Replacement Project Full Freeway Closure Planned

    Caltrans will close portions of State Route 126 as part of a 13-mile pavement replacement project. The entire project extends from the Ventura Freeway (U.S. 101) to Hallock Drive. The following closures are weather permitting and subject to change, ramp closures are as needed:

    Santa Clarita American Red Cross Asks: Is Someone You Know A Hometown Hero

    The Santa Clarita Valley American Red Cross (ARC), in partnership with KHTS AM-1220 radio station, the Santa Clarita Valley’s hometown radio station, is asking the community to nominate their very own Hometown Heroes so they may be honored at the first annual Santa Clarita Valley HOMETOWN HEROES BREAKFAST later this year. Hometown Heroes are people who have displayed heroic or humanitarian actions in the community – people whose compassionate and charitable actions exemplify the true spirit of the American Red Cross – people all across the Santa Clarita Valley.

    On Saturday night, the Kings beat the Predators 6-4, in their first game under new Head Coach John Torchetti.  You can catch the Kings next game on KHTS, Monday at 6:30 when they will take on the Vancouver Canucks.

    Lane Closures For I-5 Pavement Repairs Near Sylmar, 3/24 – 3/25

    Caltrans will close two lanes of the northbound and southbound Golden State Freeway
    (I-5) from State Route 118 to I-405, overnight as follows:
     
    • From 8 p.m. Friday, March 24 to 11:59 a.m., Saturday, March 25
     
    The closures are necessary in order to perform storm-related pavement repairs.
    Signs will be posted to assist motorists. Caltrans reminds motorists to please
    SLOW FOR THE CONE ZONE.

    Man Missing - Blood Found in Home

    UPDATE: The white 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck of a missing Canyon Country man was found Thursday with a body inside. It's unclear if the body found inside is that of the missing man, 43-year-old Raymond Castro, Sgt. Paul Patterson of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau said.

    Authorities say his pickup truck was finally found near the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway in the Santa Clarita area.

    City To Break Ground For “Gap Closure” For Cross Valley Connector

    The City of Santa Clarita will be joined by Congressman Howard “Buck” McKeon to break ground for a critical portion of the Cross Valley Connector, called the “gap closure,” located between I-5/126 and Copperhill/Rye Canyon Road.
