SoCal Edison officials say that the power is back for all but 82 of their customers, but they do not have an estimated time for when power will be restored. An underground equipment failure was cited as the cause by utility officials.

Power has been restored to all but 218 customers, after an equipment failure left hundreds without power Sunday, SoCal Edison officials said.

Approximately 1,148 customers are without power after unscheduled outages were reported in Canyon Country  Sunday, according to officials with Southern California Edison.

“We have a report of a line down, and some of our equipment failed on White Canyon Road near Pleasantdale and Bakerton,” said Anna Frutos Sanchez, spokeswoman for Southern California Edison.

“We had what’s known as a lock-out,” she said, referring to a type of equipment failure.

Officials are still determining the cause of the outage. Power is expected to be restored by 8:30 p.m., according to Southern California Edison’s website.
