Three Suspects In Court For Canyon Country Bank Robbery

Three suspects had their case continued until Dec. 11, on charges that they robbed a Canyon Country bank Sept. 12, then led law enforcement officials on a cross-county pursuit.

Phillip Ely, Lavelle Mosley and Terion Collins, all of Los Angeles, are due back in court Dec. 11 for their preliminary hearing.

Officials with the District Attorney's Office said Collins would not waive his right to a speedy trial, which is why the court date was set within 10 calendar days of the initial hearing.

"I can't speak for the defense, but chances are likely that they'll start talking to me about a disposition soon, because there really is no defense for two of the (suspects)," said Moira Curry, deputy district attorney for Los Angeles County. "It doesn't help Mr. Collins' case that he's not working with (the District Attorney's Office) on this."

Two of the suspects were taken into custody after they were captured by TV cameras throwing money out of the car.

She added that it was likely the case would be continued at the next appearance because the suspects have different defense attorneys, and two of the representatives are likely to be involved in other trials on that date.

At least four men robbed the Bank of America in Canyon Country in September, and then led deputies in a prusuit across Los Angeles County, and into downtown, where they began throwing money out of their getaway vehicle as dozens filled the streets.

A fourth suspect was captured on a security camera during the pursuit, but he is still at large, according to officials.

Two individuals were still in the vehicle when it was stopped by sheriff's deputies. A third suspect was captured near the 210 freeway in Sylmar. That was where the fourth suspect was last seen.
