Report: Deputies Capture Purse-Snatching Suspect

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested a man suspected of stealing a woman’s purse inside a fast-food restaurant in the early morning hours Saturday.

The man is accused of stealing a woman’s purse from a Carl’s Jr. in Newhall on Nov. 25. 

Deputies were able to obtain a partial license plate of the suspect’s vehicle. After an extensive follow-up investigation, Varastad Derbedrosian, 29, of Glendale, was arrested in Newhall on a felony charge of petty theft with a prior. He is being held at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station in lieu of $20,000 bail. 

This case will be presented to the district attorney’s office and Varastad Derbedrosian is due to appear in court Tuesday. No further information is available at this time.
