The REP To Wrap Up 2012 Season With Comedy

The REP will be wrapping up the 2012 season with the slapstick comedy “Moonlight and
Magnolias,” by Ron Hutchinson and sponsored by Mission View Public Schools.

The show is a comedy set in 1939 about a troubled production, according to a Repertory East Playhouse news release.

Legendary producer David O. Selznick has shut down production of his new epic, “Gone with the Wind,” a film adaptation of Margaret Mitchell’s novel. The screenplay, you see, just doesn’t work. So what’s an all-powerful movie mogul to do? While fending off the film’s stars, gossip columnists and his own father-in-law, Selznick sends a car for famed screenwriter Ben Hecht and pulls formidable director Victor Fleming from the set of “The Wizard of Oz.” Summoning both to his office, he locks the doors, closes the shades, and on a diet of bananas and peanuts, the three men labor over five days to fashion a screenplay that will become the blueprint for one of the most successful and beloved films of all time.

Moonlight and Magnolias will run November 16 through December 16.

Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are $20 for adults and $17 for students and seniors. Group rates are available. Advanced reservations are highly recommended. For tickets, purchase online at www.repeastplayhouse.org or call 661-288-0000. Moonlight and Magnolias is rated REP-PG13. PEANUT ALLERGY WARNING! Peanuts will be used onstage. Possible peanut dust in the theatre.
