NEWS RELEASE

(PRWEB) — Hurricane Sandy devastated towns up and down the eastern seaboard from Massachusetts to Washington D.C. Streets were flooded, power transformers were shorted, trees were felled. A shining light in this sea of chaos was the proprietary mass notification system developed by MIS Sciences Corporation, located in Burbank, CA.

This system, known as e-Alert™, allows transit authorities (TAs) to send emergency emails and text messages to residents warning them of impending dangers and keeping them apprised of rescue and clean-up efforts.

TAs in New Jersey, New York, Boston, Washington DC and Maryland were all able to transmit more than 16.5 million storm updates and urgent notices out to residents and businesses in their communities between October 24 and November 4.

The fully-hosted eight language system delivers messages to SMS devices, PDAs, cell phones, pagers, email accounts, fax machines and other devices at the rate of over 5,000,000 messages per hour. Messages can be automatically triggered by emergency alerts issued by government, alarm systems, maintenance systems, and changes in web page content.

Since 1996, MIS Sciences Corporation has been providing technology services to federal, state, and local governments, private industry, universities, and schools. The company provides a full range of dedicated hosting, colocation hosting, email, anti-spam, and voice broadcast services. eAlert™ is a registered trademark of MIS Sciences Corporation.
