Man And Woman Of The Year Present Check To The Boys And Girls Club

Tom Dierckman and Myrna Condie, Man and Woman of the year 2012, donated $2,000 to the Boys & Girls Club Scholarship Fund at a check presentation at the KHTS Radio booth in the Valencia Town Center Wednesday.

Annually, each newly selected Man and Woman gets to donate to the non-profits of their choice. The money donated to the Boys and Girls Club will fund a scholarship for students to attend College of the Canyons.

“The most important thing –about being Man or Woman of the year– is to bring attention to organizations like College of the Canyons and The Boys and Girls club,” said Tom Dierckman, SCV Man of the Year.

Dierckman also noted that being Man of the Year also brings some focus to volunteerism.

“Volunteers make the valley work, they are the ones that make things happen and they do it –not because they are obligated but– because its the right thing to do.” Added Dierckman

“Scholarships give an opportunity to our students at COC to help them pay for their educational expenses,” said Cynthia Slooten, Scholarship Specialist at C.O.C. “Finance is one of the barriers for our student and scholarships are what make it possible–for our students– to achieve their educational goals,” she added.

The next SCV Man and Woman of the Year title will be awarded May 3rd at the Valencia Hyatt. For more information about the program, Click Here.
