The Hart School District will hold a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) information meeting for student athletes and their parents on Thursday, Dec. 6th.
Parents of students who wish to participate in college athletics at the Division I, II or III level, after high school graduation should plan to attend.
“There are a lot of parents and students in our district that want and will become [collegiate] athletes and it takes a lot of preparation” said Hart District Director of Curriculum and Assessment Dave LeBarron. “We want to make sure our students get the information they need early on, not later, so the transition on the athletics side of college goes smoothly.”
Information shared at this meeting will be on the eligibility requirements for all students who wish to participate in college athletics at the Division I, II or III level after completing high school. The meeting will focus on the NCAA Eligibility Center (formerly NCAA Clearinghouse), which makes students eligible for NCAA athletics, as well as smaller group sessions with high school counselors — who themselves are NCAA eligibility reps for their respective schools, said LeBarron.
The information shared at this meeting will be helpful for all student athletes, but especially for those in the ninth and tenth grades, said LeBarron.
The meeting will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 pm, at the Golden Valley High School Theatre at 27051 Robert C. Lee Pkwy, Santa Clarita.
