Gas Prices Dropping Nationwide

Gas pumpGas prices have taken a dip in Southern California, and may continue to drop for at least the new couple of weeks, according to travel experts

“Oil industry analysts are telling us that there’s good reason to expect that prices to decline,” said Marie Montgomery, spokeswoman for AAA of Southern California. “They’ve been making projections across the country. Prices are coming down pretty quickly.”

The prices have gone down 20 cents in the last week, according to Montgomery, but it could be a while until we see the average price return to the $4 mark, she said.

For the entire Los Angeles-Long Beach area, the average price is approximately $4.44 per gallon, she said.

In the Santa Clarita Valley, the lowest price listed is $4.04 per gallon at the Costco near Via Princessa, according to GasBuddy.com. The lowest non-club price available is the Alliance station on Sierra Highway, near Ryan Lane, which is currently selling at $4.29, according to the gas-price website.

The price drop has occurred at a pace of about three cents per day, and Montgomery cautioned that with such a volatile market, drivers should be encouraged to shop around.

“Of course you don’t want to be filling up every day, but you might want to wait a little bit longer (to find the right price),” she advised.
