Exotic Feline Breeding Compound Welcomes New Tigers

The Exotic Feline Breeding Compound in Rosamond is celebrating the holidays this season with the arrival of two new Malayan tigers, adding to the more than 70 wild cats (including 19 different species) that live there.

The tigers, male Tiga and female Bupati, arrived on November 19 to begin a breeding program for this endangered subspecies.

The Malayan tiger inhabits the southern and central parts of the Malay Peninsula (which includes parts of Thailand and Malaysia), with a current population estimated at 500 in the wild.

The EFBC Cat House is open to the public if you are interested in visiting these tigers or any of their other felines. They are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day except Wednesdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. General admission is $7, $6 for seniors and $5 for children 3-12. Parking is free.
