Einstein Academy Officials Tout Big Week

Einstein Academy is touting a big week for the charter school, with progress in athletics, finance and, potentially, school development, according to school officials.

The most significant development is the completion of a bond sale, which Executive Director Jeffrey Shapiro is taking as promising news, while the school awaits word on its petition for a kindergarten-to-sixth-grade school in the Santa Clarita Valley.

The school recently completed sales for a $6.395 million bond, which helped complete payment of the school’s main campus facility.

“We’ve received the money, and we own the building outright now,” Shapiro said, referring to the school’s seventh-to-11th-grade facility at 28141 Kelly Johnson Parkway.

“It shows our fiscal solvency, as well as the strength of our academic program,” he said.

And, with a 32-20 win over Santa Clarita Christian over the weekend, Einstein Academy Junior High girls basketball team became the undefeated league champions of the Santa Clarita Athletic Independent League, according to the Rockets' coach Larry Douglass.

The school recently received unanimous approval from a San Diego County district regarding operation of K-12 school.
A public hearing may be held in January regarding the school's petition for a local K-6 school, which was recently denied by the Saugus Union School District.

Einstein Academy already operates a seventh-to-11th grade school locally in the William S. Hart Union High School District. The school will be adding a 12th grade next year.
