Deputies Report Child Found After False Kidnapping Report

After an initial report of a Canyon Country kidnapping Friday night, a child was found with his family in Los Angeles later that evening, according to Sheriff’s Department officials.

Around 5:05 p.m. Friday, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies received a call that a small child was wrapped in a blanket and taken by two people at a playground area near Palomino Place and Silver Saddle Circle in Canyon Country, according to a Sheriff’s Department statement.

Deputies tracked the vehicle using a partial-plate identification from the caller and located the vehicle in south central Los Angeles.

Santa Clarita deputies and detectives responded to that location in Los Angeles and confirmed in fact no kidnapping had took place.

The 5-year-old was picked up by his grandparents and wrapped in a blanket because he was cold, according to the statement.
