UPDATED: Deputies Chasing Bank Robbery Suspect On Highway 14

A bank robbery suspect was killed after a Saugus robbery led to a shootout in Lancaster, according to sheriff’s officials.

Officials said only one man was involved in the robbery. His identity has not been released by officials.

Deputies returned fire at the suspect’s vehicle and then approached the suspect, according to officials.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a Bank of America that was robbed at gunpoint at the  26800  block of Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus. The robbery occurred at 9:15 a.m., according to officials.

“There was one suspect, he drove into a residential area, drove into a cul-de-sac and then an exchange of gunfire occurred,” according to Lt. Robles of the Sheriff’s Department . 

“The suspect is being treated at the scene,” he said.

Initial reports from the Sheriff’s Department stated the suspect turned and fired on deputies after they warned and confronted the suspect.

The suspect was being pursued on Highway 14. That has come to an end at the Avenue H exit in Lancaster. The vehicle is believed to be registered to an Agua Dulce address.

No deputies were injured and no one was hurt in the robbery.

 The suspect’s vehicle was stopped by spike strips after about 20 minutes of pursuit.

The scene of the robbery is currently being investigated by local and federal law enforcement officials.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies are pursuing a suspect in a vehicle who robbed a Bank of America in Saugus.

The pursuit is currently taking place on HIghway 14 heading toward the Antelope Valley.
