If you love the outdoors and enjoy sharing that love with others, Placerita Canyon Nature Center’s Volunteer-Naturalist program may be just the thing for you.
Placerita Canyon welcomes everyone interested in learning about their environment, teaching children and making a difference in the community. You do not need any experience in education or science to participate, just a willingness to attend nine weeks of training and to volunteer twice a month.
Training begins Tuesday, January 8, 2013 and will continue for nine weeks every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Topics taught by professionals from various fields will include native plants, ecology, insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals, geology, history and interpretive techniques.
There is a $45 fee, which includes all training materials (instruction manual, field guide, T-shirt and related items), but other volunteer opportunities such as office helper or trail maintenance team member do not require training. Bilingual volunteers (English/Spanish) are especially needed.
If you are interested in any of these positions, click here or call Placerita Canyon Nature Center at 661-259-7721.
