    Negro Baseball League Explored As Part of City’s Season of Diversity

    Santa Clarita – Wednesday, October 25, 2006, The City of Santa Clarita Human Relations Forum will continue its Season of Diversity month long program with a historical lecture about the Negro Baseball League presented by “Sweet Lou” Lou Johnson, outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers.  Prior to the 1950’s, African Americans were barred from playing in the Major League. “The Negro Leagues” were formed during the time organized baseball was segregated and became the training ground for Hall of Famers like Jackie Robinson, Hank Aaron and many other baseball greats.

    City to Hold Free Parenting Workshop

    It is not easy to raise a family today’s society -- especially with blended or step families. Each family encompasses different dynamics and requires different needs. The City of Santa Clarita believes that every family is unique and deserves to be celebrated -- no matter what the situation is. On Thursday, October 19, 2006, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the City will host Strategies for Success: Building a Successful Blended Family at the City Hall Council Chambers.

    SCV Rose Society Presents 13th Annual Rose Show

    Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 14th, 2006. The Santa Clarita Valley Rose Society will host its 13th Annual Rose Show. The Event will be held at Castaic Union School District. 28131 Livingston Avenue, Valencia..
     
    The show will feature nearly 1,000 roses. Rose entries will be received from 7 :00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Judging takes place between 10:00 a.m. and Noon. The show is open to the public from 12:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
