Faith Community Church will continue a favorite local Christmas tradition by hosting the Seventh Annual “Festividad for Christ” celebration, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15.
A carne asada lunch will be served, and church members will hand out wrapped gifts for children up to 13 years old. Free frozen turkeys will be distributed, and used clothing will also be available for those in need. The event will be held at the church on Meadowridge Drive, just off Newhall Avenue.
“Our church strives to be a good neighbor, and this is a great way for us to share the love of Christ in a very practical way with those in our immediate community,” Senior Pastor Steve Jackson said. “Everything at Festividad is free and we invite those who live near the church in Newhall to join us for fun and fellowship.”
“Festividad” typically attracts up to 1,000 people, and organizers are expecting at least that many participants this year. For the past several weeks, the church has been collecting presents for boys and girls ages 0-3, 4-7, and 8-13, and raising money to purchase the popular frozen turkeys.
“Many in our community are still struggling in a weak economy, and hopefully this event allows those hurting most to have a Christmas celebration worth remembering,” said David Gabriel, who is coordinating the event. “We’re thankful we can bring some joy and hope at a time when our neighbors need it most.”
