    Los Angeles Kings Still Winless, Lose To Avalanche 3-1

    In a game heard live on KHTS Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Kings lost to the Colorado Avalanche, by a final score of 3-1.

    The Kings start the season 0-2, but are back in action on the road again Thursday night in Edmonton to face the Oilers.

    Undefeated The Master's College Women's Basketball Team Takes on Westmont

    The Master’s College women’s basketball team will look to extend its undefeated winning streak to 18 games tonight against Westmont in a match-up of two teams in the top 25 in the NAIA.

    The Lady Mustangs are coming off a 59-53 win over Biola in a Golden State Athletic Conference game on Saturday night. The Master’s College women held Biola to nine points in the first half.

    Jacquelyn Marshall scored 15 points to lead the Lady Mustangs.

    The Master’s College, ranked No. 8 in the NAIA, is at home tonight against No. 11 Westmont.

    West Ranch Boys Basketball Team Rises To Top Of Foothill League

    The West Ranch boys basketball team has a little breathing room atop the Foothill League standings.

    West Ranch beat Golden Valley, 80-57, and improved to 4-0 in league, all alone in first place.

    Ako Kaluna scored 25 points and led four players in double figures for West Ranch. Zac Nuttall scored 13.

    Dominic Gully scored 13 points to lead Golden Valley.

    Trinity Boys Basketball Team Takes Down Santa Clarita Christian In Heritage League Game

    The Trinity Classical Academy boys basketball team beat Santa Clarita Christian, 64-40, in a Heritage League game.

    Spencer Klehn scored 25 points and Ryan Brooks recorded a double-double with 17 points and 17 rebounds for Trinity, which won its second league game of the season.

    Santa Clarita Christian’s Phillip Webb scored 20 points and had 16 rebounds. The Cardinals are 0-2 in the Heritage League.

    College Of The Canyons Men's Basketball Team Improves To 3-0 In Conference

    The College of the Canyons men’s basketball team beat visiting Bakersfield College, 84-81, and improved to 3-0 in conference play.

    The COC men are all alone in first place in the Western State Conference, South Division.

    Temjae Singleton scored 24 points to lead COC. Ron Harris had a double-double for the Cougars with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

    The COC men are 13-6 overall.

    Saugus Girls Soccer Team Wins First Foothill League Game, 3-2

    The Saugus girls won their first Foothill League game, 3-2, over West Ranch. Brenna Savoie scored two goals and Angie Weiner, pitcured at right, scored one for the Centurions.

    Saugus led 2-0 in the first half before Valerie Mercado scored on a penalty kick in the final seconds of the half.

    West Ranch tied the score, 2-2, on a goal by Samy Richards in the opening minutes of the second half. But Savoie’s second goal of the game in the 69th minute proved to be the difference.

    Nine Players From The Foothill League Selected To All-CIF Football Team

    Valencia quarterback Sean Murphy is one of nine players from the Foothill League to earn spots on the All-CIF Southern Section Northern Division football team.

    Malik Townsend, a receiver on the Valencia football team, joined Murphy on the offensive team. Vikings linebacker Anthony Costleigh and defensive back Tedric Thompson were selected to the defensive team.

    Hart had three players on the All-CIF team. Trent Irwin was selected as a receiver and Connor WIngenroth earned a spot as a utility player. Austin Murillo made the team as a defensive back.

    West Ranch, Valencia Boys Basketball Teams Improve To 2-0 In Foothill League

    The West Ranch boys basketball team improved to 2-0 in Foothill League play with a 62-48 win over Canyon.

    Kevin Harris had another big game for West Ranch, scoring 19 points and making 7-of-9 shots from the field. Ako Kaluna scored 11 points and had nine blocks for the Wildcats.

    Ben Taufahema led Canyon with 12 points. Teammate Mark Bell scored 11.

    Santa Clarita Christian Boys Basketball Team Cruises Past Vasquez

    The Santa Clarita Christian boys basketball team beat Vasquez, 66-42. Larue Nixon scored 23 points, 16 in the second half, for Santa Clarita Christian.

    Phillip Webb scored 20 points as the host Cardinals built an eight-point lead, 25-17, at halftime. Santa Clarita Christian improved to 6-4.

    The Santa Clarita Christian girls basketball team lost to Vasquez, 49-12. Aubrey Robinson scored all 12 points for the Cardinals.

    Pair Of College Of The Canyons Golfers Transfer To Four-Year Universities

    College of the Canyons golfers Kris Grimes and Nicole De Francisco will continue their collegiate careers at four-year universities in the spring.

    Grimes won the California Community College Athletic Association state title in 2011 and was the Southern California champion in 2012. She will transfer to Southern Illinois University.

    De Francisco will continue her college golf career at Cal State Northridge. Both women will be able to join their teams in the spring midway through the NCAA season.
