    Four Girls Soccer Teams From Foothill League Qualify For CIF Playoffs

    Four teams from the Foothill League qualified for the CIF Southern Section girls soccer playoffs.

    The Valencia girls soccer team, the champion of the Foothill League, will play Moorpark in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs on Thursday.

    Moorpark is the third-place team from the Marmonte League.

    Los Angeles Kings Defeat St. Louis Blues, 4-1

    In a game heard live on KHTS Monday night, the Los Angeles Kings defeated the St. Louis Blues, by a final score of 4-1. The Kings are beginning to look like Stanley Cup Champions again, after being in the cellar of the Pacific Division for most of the short season thus far. It was the first meeting of the two teams since last season's playoffs, when the Kings dominated the Blues in a series sweep.

    Five Foothill League Teams Headed To CIF Southern Section Boys Basketball Playoffs

    Five teams from the Foothill League are headed to the CIF Southern Section boys basketball playoffs.

    The West Ranch boys basketball team won the Foothill League championship and earned the No. 3 seed in the CIF Southern Section Division 1A playoffs.

    The Wildcats are at home and will play Ventura, which earned an at-large bid out of the Channel League, in the first round of the playoffs on Friday night.

    Valencia Boys Soccer Team Wins Foothill League Title

    The Valencia boys soccer team shut out West Ranch, 1-0, to capture its first Foothill League championship in school history.

    Jesus Fernandez scored in the 55th minute off a pass from Zach Klindworth. Valencia completed an unbeaten Foothill League season at 7-0-3.

    West Ranch came into the game as the leader in the Foothill League. The Vikings were a point behind the Wildcats.

    West Ranch finishes in second place with a 7-2-1 record in league. Both losses were to Valencia.

    Kings Fall To Nashville Predators 3-0

    In a game heard live on KHTS Thursday night, the Los Angeles Kings fell to the Nashville Predators by a final score of 3-0. Tune in Sunday morning for our next Kings game, against the Detroit Red Wings! Pregame starts at 9:00am, on AM-1220 KHTS!

    Football Players From SCV Make College Commitments On National Signing Day

    Three football players from College of the Canyons will continue their careers at four-year universities after making their commitments on national signing day.

    Cornerback Sam Lee will transfer to Brigham Young University. Offensive lineman Lloyd Tunstill is headed to Texas Christian University. Linebacker Justyn Eddins is going to the University of Texas San Antonio.

    Six football players in total from COC are transferring to four-year universities. Eric Finney is going to Illinois, Jesse Sampson is headed to Wyoming and Jake Wooley will play at Portland State.

    Hart Boys Basketball Team Passes Test Against Valencia

    The Hart boys basketball team was put to the test against Valencia on Tuesday night.

    The Indians barely passed the test.

    Hart won the game, 59-56, to improve to 8-1 in the Foothill League and stay in a tie for first place.

    But the Vikings made it very interesting in the final minute of the game.

    Garrett Mike hit a pair of 3-pointers to cut the Hart lead to one point. But Chase White scored a layup for Hart and Luke Maly made a pair of free throws with 0.6 seconds left in the game to seal the victory.

    Los Angeles Kings Defeat Columbus Blue Jackets, 4-2

    In a game heard live on AM-1220 KHTS, the Los Angeles Kings added a win to their road trip tally, defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets, 4-2.

    Iacenda Tabbed To Coach College Of The Canyons Football Team

    The College of the Canyons has a new football coach.

    Ted Iacenda, who was a star running back at Hart High School, has accepted the COC football coaching job on an interim basis.

    Iacenda led Hart to a CIF football championship in 1995. He has been an assistant coach at Alemany High School with Dean and Rick Herrington, who were both assistant coaches at Hart.

    Iacenda spent four years as an assistant football coach at COC from 2002-2005. The Cougars won a community college national championship in 2004.

    Hart, West Ranch Boys Basketball Teams Win With Second-Half Rallies


    The West Ranch and Hart boys basketball teams needed rallies to win their Foothill League games on Friday night.

    The Hart boys trailed Golden Valley by three points at halftime, but turned the game into a 75-50 blowout win.

    The Indians outscored the Grizzlies, 46-18, in the second half and improved to 7-1 in the Foothill League standings.

    Lewis Stallworth led the Indians with 28 points. He scored 18 in the second half.
