    Thane Ringler From The Master's College Wins Battle Of The Beach Golf Tournament

    Thane Ringler from The Master’s College won the individual championship at the Bash at the Beach tournament in Florida.

    He was 9-under at 135 after the second round of the two-round tournament. He was also selected to the all-tournament team.

    The Master’s College men’s golf team, ranked No. 9 in the NAIA, was fourth in the Bash at the Beach tournament. The Mustangs had a team score of 596.

    The Master's College's John Gilbertson Selected As NAIA Athlete Of The Week In Track And Field

    John Gilbertson from The Master’s College was selected as the NAIA athlete of the week in track and field after his performance in the 10,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational.

    Gilbertson ran the fastest time in the world this year in the 10K in 28 minutes, 30.35 seconds at the Stanford Invitational. Elroy Gelant of South Africa held the previous fastest time in the world in 2013 in 28 minutes, 50.24 seconds.

    Gilbertson and The Master’s College men’s track and field team will compete in the Magnum Invitational at Cal State San Marcos on Saturday.

    Canyon Baseball Team Rallies, But Falls To Diamond Bar

    It was a tough day in tournament play for the baseball teams from the Santa Clarita Valley.

    The Canyon baseball team lost to Diamond Bar, 7-6, in its final game of the Anaheim Lions Tournament.

    The Cowboys rallied, scoring all six runs in the top of the seventh inning. But Diamond Bar built a 7-0 lead and scored three runs in the fourth inning.

    John Greaves, Founder Of Albert Einstein Academy Football Team, Dies

    John Greaves, the head coach and founder of the football team at Albert Einstein Academy, died of leukemia on Monday night. He was 49.

    A message posted on the team's Facebook page relayed the the thoughts from the school staff of Greaves' death.

    "It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Coach John Greaves. He fought valiantly against leukemia and built our football program at the same time."

    Saugus Softball Team Sweeps Alemany In Doubleheader

    The Saugus softball team swept Alemany in a doubleheader and didn’t give up a run in either game. The Centurions won the first game, 11-0, and the second game, 9-0.

    Brandi Burgin and Alanna Layton combined on the shutout in the first game. Mariah Lopez pitched a four-hitter with 12 strikeouts in the second game.

    Maddy Jelenicki drove in four runs for Saugus in the first game. Cayla Kessinger had two RBIs in the second game. She was 5-for-6 in the two games.

    Hart, West Ranch Baseball Teams Start Scott Boras Tournament Today

    The Hart and West Ranch baseball teams begin play in the Scott Boras Tournament today.

    Both squads are in the 16-team South Regional in the single-elimination tournament.

    Hart faces Mater Dei tonight in the first round of the tournament. Mater Dei is 10-1 and coming off a championship run in the USA Baseball National Invitational.

    The Master's College's John Gilbertson Wins 10K In World's Fastest Time

    John Gilbertson from The Master’s College ran the 10,000 meters in the world’s fastest time of the year at the Stanford Invitational on Friday.

    Making his debut in the event, Gilbertson won the heat race in 28 minutes, 50.24 seconds and surpassed the previous fastest time in the world by nearly 20 seconds. Elroy Gelant of South Africa held the fastest time in the world in the 10K at 28 minutes, 30.35 seconds.

    West Ranch Golf Team Wins Second Foothill League Match In A Row

    It was a little closer the second time around, but the West Ranch boys golf team won Foothill League match No. 2 by 11 strokes over Hart at Robinson Ranch.

    West Ranch shot 394 as a team. Joey Downey shot the low round of the day for West Ranch again. This time he shot even par 71.

    Hart’s Glenn Lee was second with a 1-over 72.

    Canyon Baseball Team Takes Over First Place In Foothill League Standings

    The Canyon baseball team needed extra innings to knock Valencia out of first place in the Foothill League standings.

    Canyon beat Valencia, 2-1, scoring the winning run in the top of the eighth inning. The Cowboys win coupled with a Saugus loss to West Ranch leaves Canyon all alone in first place in league.

    Chris Serrano capped a 4-for-4 day driving in the winning run with a bases-loaded infield single. He also scored a run and stole a base.

    Valencia Softball Team Shuts Out Oxnard

    The Valencia softball team shut out Oxnard, 5-0, behind a one-hitter from Sydney Mundell.

    Kristina Brackpool was 2-for-3 with a triple and drove in two runs. Wendy Cardinali was 2-for-4 and drove in one run.

    Emma Stanley and Nicole Joseph each had an RBI. Britney Ross-Smith and Alley Johnson each had two hits for the Vikings.
