    COC Men's Golf Team Wins Southern Regional Tournament

    khts_sportsThe College of the Canyons men’s golf team won the Southern Regional championship by 12 strokes at the Glendora Country Club.

    Riley Hayfield led COC with a two-round score of 142. He shot 71 on both days of the California Community College Athletic Association Southern Regional.

    COC shot 722 as a team and was 2-over par. The College of the Desert was second at 734.

    West Ranch Baseball Team Wins Fifth Game In A Row

    khts_sportsThe West Ranch baseball team took a big step toward its first Foothill League championship. The Wildcats beat Hart, 12-1, to win its fifth game in a row.

    Tony Slauson drove in three runs for West Ranch. Freshman Jagger Rusconi scored three runs and had three hits.

    The Valencia baseball team stayed in the playoff picture with a 9-1 win over Saugus. Brian Mundell and AJ Balta homered for the Vikings.

    Hart Swim Teams Sweep Foothill League Championships

    khts_sportsThe Hart girls swim team won the Foothill League championship and Saugus freshman Abby Weitzeil set two school records at the league finals at the Santa Clarita Aquatics Center.

    Hart had its own freshman phenom in Mik Ranslem. She won two events, the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly, to lead Hart over second-place Saugus. She was also on the winning 400 freestyle relay team.

    West Ranch, Saugus Baseball Teams Tied For First In Foothill League

    khts_sportsWest Ranch pitcher J.C. Cloney came up big for the Wildcats.

    The Saugus baseball team came-from-behind to beat Hart.

    That leaves the Saugus and West Ranch baseball teams tied for first place in the Foothill League and puts Hart and Valencia in the backseat for the league title.

    Cloney struck out a career high 12 batters against Valencia in a 7-0 shutout. He gave up only two hits in six innings and improved to 4-1 against the Foothill League.

    West Ranch Softball Team Sits Comfortably In First Place

    khts_sportsThe West Ranch softball team has a comfortable lead in the Foothill League standings.

    The battle for second place is another story.

    West Ranch beat Golden Valley, 13-3, and has a two-game lead in the league standings.

    Hailey Hineman had three hits and drove in three runs for West Ranch. Janelle Lindvall drove in two runs and had two hits.

    The Canyon softball team jumped into the playoff picture with a 7-6 win over Saugus.

    Buffalo Bills Sign Hart High Grad Delano Howell

    khts_sportsHart High grad and Stanford safety Delano Howell was one of 10 undrafted players signed by the Buffalo Bills after the NFL draft.

    Howell played in the defensive backfield for Stanford in his junior and senior seasons.

    He is expected to be a special teams player in Buffalo if he makes the team.

    Hart, West Ranch, Saugus Tied For First Place In Foothill League Baseball Standings

    khts_sportsThe Foothill League championship in baseball is completely up for grabs.

    Hart, Saugus and West Ranch are tied for first place in the league standings after Friday’s games. Valencia sits a game behind the top three, in fourth place, after knocking off Hart.

    The Vikings won 6-2 to climb back in the Foothill League race. Valencia’s Chris Gimenez pitched 4 1/3 shutout innings in relief and Brian Mundell knocked in two runs in a four-run sixth inning.

    Valencia Boys Golf Team Wins Newhall Cup, West Ranch Wins League Title

    khts_sportsIt was nearly a clean sweep for the Valencia boys golf team at TPC Valencia.

    The Vikings won the Newhall Cup and the final Foothill League match of the season.

    Valencia’s Jonathan Chang shot the low round of the day, a 2-over 74, and won individual title in the Newhall Cup for the third year in a row. He also wrapped up the league MVP.

    COC Softball Team Finishes With State-Leading 37 Wins

    khts_sportsThe College of the Canyons softball team ended the regular season with a record-breaking performance by one of its players and the most wins in the state.

    The Cougars beat El Camino College, 9-6. Adrianna Correra hit her 17th home run of the season and broke the school record. The COC softball team won its 37th game of the season, the most in the state.

    Foothill League Baseball Standings Tighten Up

    khts_sportsThe Foothill League baseball standings just got a little tighter.

    Valencia beat first-place Hart, 4-2, and cut the Indians’ lead to one game with five games left to play in the league season.

    Brian Mundell hit a solo home run and drove in two run for Valencia.

    Hart lost only its second league game of the season.

    Saugus and West Ranch are a game behind Hart after winning their games.
