Hart Downs Moorpark In First Round Of CIF Girls Volleyball Playoffs
The Hart girls volleyball team have a habit of winning matches with a little hiccup in the middle. It was no different in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division IA playoffs against Moorpark.
Hart won in four games, 25-13, 23-25, 25-9, 25-21, and advanced to the second round of playoffs on Thursday.
After cruising in the first game, Hart let Moorpark back in the match losing the second game.
“I think game 2, we came out more complacent and not as intentional about executing our fundamental skills,” said Hart outside hitter Amy King. “Game 3, we came back and we were more focused on not making unforced errors that we made a lot of in game 2.”
Chase Tengberg had a team-high 12 kills for Hart off the bench. King and Kathryn Cambra each had seven kills.
After losing game 2, Hart came back to take an early, 4-0 lead in game 3. The Indians were up 20-5 at one point and buried Moorpark.
“In game 3, for us, if we’re on the board first, we’re much more confident in our ability,” Hart coach Mary Keen said. “Composure is there. The girls are more aggressive.
Hart setter Erin Indemill had 32 assists and four aces. Sydney Hamilton had six aces in the match and Katie Baker had 21 digs.
“I’m really excited,” King said. “I know that we’re excited to see how far we can get. We didn’t play our very best, but this is a good lesson to move forward in the second round.”
