Hart Boys Basketball Team Downs La Canada, Remains Undefeated

The Hart boys basketball team won its second game in the La Canada Tournament, 68-53, over La Canada and remained undefeated to start the season.

Myles Franklin scored 26 points to lead the Indians who improved to 7-0.

Hart plays Arcadia next in the tournament.

The Canyon boys basketball team lost to Highland, 50-46. Dean Hendrix-Davis scored 15 points for Canyon. Marc Carbrera added 13.

The Saugus girls basketball team beat Archer, 52-50, in the semifinals of the Milken Tournament. Justice Bennett scored 20 points and had 15 rebounds for the Centurions. Rachel Eaton posted a double-double as well with  12 points and 11 rebounds.

Saugus plays Milken in the championship game tonight.

In high school soccer, the Canyon girls won their first game of the season, 4-0, over Burroughs. Vanessa Quintero scored two goals for Canyon. Brooke Moore and Kelsi Howard also scored for Canyon.

The Valencia girls edged Alemany, 2-1, on a second-half goal by Lindsay Bos. Taylor Venegas gave Valencia a 1-0 lead in the first half.

The Golden Valley girls won their second game of the season, 3-1, over Chatsworth. Lauren Amara, Samantha Wilson and Joanna Lagunas each scored for the Grizzlies.

The Dodgers added another utility player to their roster. Skip Schumaker was traded from the Cardinals to the Dodgers for Jake Lemmerman, a minor league shortstop.

Schumaker is a career .288 hitter in eight seasons with the Cardinals. He plays all three outfield positions and second base.

The Clippers beat the Charlotte Bobcats, 100-94, and have an eight-game winning streak. Chris Paul had 19 points and 10 assists. Matt Barnes added 19 points off the bench and the Clippers matched their longest winning streak since the 1991-92 season.
