Football And Fame: Snoop Dogg, Puff Daddy’s Sons On The Gridiron

Cordell Broadus, the son of Snoop Dogg, is a wide receiver on the Diamond Bar High School football team. He is only a sophomore, but has a scholarship offer from UCLA. Coaches from the University of Oregon and Duke University have taken notice of Broadus.

Justin Combs, a red-shirt freshman defensive back at UCLA, is the son of Sean “Puff Paddy” Combs. Justin Combs didn’t exactly receive a warm welcome when he arrived in Westwood. Because of his father’s wealth and success, some contended that Justin Combs give up his scholarship.

Broadus might eventually end up at UCLA and be a teammate of Justin Combs. The Bruins could have two sons of hip-hop stars on the roster. But will Broadus receive the same kind of welcome as Combs? It seems being the son of a rapper has its advantages and its drawbacks, especially for a top football recruit.

Go to SB Nation for more on Broadus and Combs as they pursue their college football careers.

About Connie Jones

Connie and her husband, John, moved to the Santa Clarita Valley almost 30 years ago. Living in Santa Clarita for that long is the direct opposite of Connie’s childhood. She was an Army ‘brat’ who moved every two to three years. Consequently, she has lived in many states and even spent three years in Europe. All three of her kids went to Santa Clarita schools. Connie says the best thing about her job at KHTS is that she is never bored. “If I’m not smiling, Carl is sure to ask why, just before giving me a mind-boggling project.” “KHTS AM-1220 is an integral part of our community and I’m glad to be a part of it. Besides, the DJs will take my request to play Shania Twain’s ‘Still the One’ for my wedding anniversary – gotta love that!”
