    Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center To Host Candidate Forum With KHTS AM-1220

    The Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center is hosting a free Santa Clarita City Council candidate forum Tuesday, March 4 from 2-3:30 p.m., according to Senior Center officials.

    33rd Annual District Honor Band Concert Set for March 1st

    Top junior high and high school student musicians from throughout the Hart School District will perform starting at 7:30 pm on Saturday March 1st at the Hart High School Auditorium in the 33rd annual district honor band concert. The junior high honor band is comprised of 86 students and the high school honor band includes 92 student musicians. The more than 175 students, who have been selected to participate in this concert, came from a field of some 700 talented students who auditioned. The community is invited to attend and the tickets are $12 at the door.

    Liberty Tax Offers Free Preparation For Teachers, School Employees

    Liberty Tax Service is offering free tax preparation to educators in the Santa Clarita Valley between Sunday, March 2 and Saturday, March 8. The "Educator Appreciation Days" are open to first-time customers only.

    Rain is expected during the second half of the week as a pair of winter storms are forecast to move across southwestern California, National Weather Service officials said Monday.

    Jim Keysor, 1970's Santa Clarita Valley Assemblyman, Dies At 86

    James B. Keysor Jr., who represented parts of the Santa Clarita and San Fernando valleys in the state Assembly from 1970 to 1978, has died. He was 86.

    Newhall District To Hold Parent Summit February 27

    On Thursday, February 27, the Newhall School District will host its biennial Parent Summit and Volunteer Recognition evening.  Administrators, teachers, and school board members will offer information and discussion sessions for parents on three huge changes facing California’s schools:  the state’s Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), Common Core Standards, and assessment.  A process to revise the district’s mission statement to reflect these new realities will also be part of the evening. 

    New Thursdays At Newhall Events Returns To Santa Clarita This March

    Thursday nights will heat up in Santa Clarita when Thursdays @ Newhall returns to Old Town Newhall on March 6, 2014. Several sizzling events are planned for Thursday nights from March to October, including a weekly rotation of Art SLAM, J.A.M. Sessions and SENSES.
