College of the Canyons Chancellor Dianne Van Hook received the Key to the City of Santa Clarita on Oct. 26 at the annual Chancellor's Circle dinner. Mayor Bob Kellar gave Van Hook the key in honor of her 25 years at COC.
"Every 15 Minutes," the program sponsored by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station, is coming to Canyon High School on Thursday to teach students about the dangers of distracted or impaired driving.
Sixth grade students at Valencia Valley Elementary spent the last 6 weeks working on a research report , display board, and presentation on a country. Thirty-two countries will be represented at the school's International Fair. Each student will be introducing his/her country and telling four interesting facts about it. Some students will also be bringing food from their country to share. Families are invited to attend, the event will take place at Valencia Valley Elementary on Nov. 18 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The annual "Come ChristmasSing" concert series is returning to The Master's College for its 30th year, Dec. 5-7. Held in the Bross Gymnasium on Placerita Canyon Road, the concert will feature Christmas carols and John Rutter's "Magnificat."
The months-long parking lot renovation at the Valencia branch of the Santa Clarita Public Library, will culminate with a ribbon cutting on Thursday. The completed project will feature 27 new parking spaces, lighting, landscaping and public art.
The City of Santa Clarita and the Community Energy Partnership invite local businesses with tracked energy savings to sign up for the Whac-A-Watt, Save-A-Lot Business Energy Challenge by November 30, 2013.
