    Local Photographers to Compete in Quarterly City Photo Contest

    The City of Santa Clarita invites Community members to the quarterly photography contest to submit their favorite local snapshots for the spring contest which is currently underway.

    New submissions must be received by March 31, 2013 to qualify for a variety of cash prizes. Photo submissions must represent events, activities, nature or daily life in and around the Santa Clarita Valley.

    A Unique Kind Of Tree Grows In Santa Clarita

    Beginning in 2009 The ARTree was founded by local artist Bob Hernandez, the organization focuses on bringing art, both its creation and appreciation, into the community of Santa Clarita.

    “We want everyone involved with The ARTree to have a personal stake in the visual and performing arts,” said Hernandez. This “community-integrated” art is what Bob Hernandez wanted to achieve with this community-based arts education organization.

    Valencia High School Band Hosts Its Second Annual Competition

    The Santa Clarita's Valencia High School Band will be hosting their second annual American Drum Line Association competition this Saturday, February 23. Performances from 10:00 am - 4:30 pm.

    Santa Clarita’s U.S. Congressman Howard P. “Buck” McKeon is scheduled to present a Bronze Star Medal to First Lieutenant Gabriel G. Surratt on Monday at 11 A.M. in the Newhall Veterans Historical Plaza. Honoring First Lieutenant Gabriel G. Surratt (Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Afghanistan) for exceptional meritorious service from March 1, 2011 to October 2, 2012 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
