Mitt Romney's Son Speaks To KHTS
Tagg Romney defends his father’s policy.
Thursday morning, Tagg Romney, son of Republican Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, called into KHTS AM-1220 radio in Santa Clarita.
There, he described his father’s positions on several key topics such as the United States military strength, illegal immigration, and the personal traits that made Mitt Romney successful.
Hometown Morning Show host John Summers started off the round of questioning by asking bluntly; “Why should people vote for your dad?”
“He was a great business leader, one of the best in our generation,” Tagg Romney stated, referring to his father’s list of credentials which include helping to form companies like Staples, Sports Authority and Brookstone.
Tagg also went on to praise his father’s work as Governor of Massachusetts and the head of the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
“I think he will continue to do what he’s done in the past, which is to solve the tough problems,” he said.
On the question of illegal immigration, Tagg stated that there are three things his father would do. “He thinks legal immigration is a good thing, but he thinks illegal immigration is very bad thing,” stated the younger Romney.
“One, you gotta do a better job securing the border. Two, you need to put in place a system where companies can check to see whether the people they’re hiring are legal or not. That would turn off the magnets that bring so many people here in the first place. And third, you don’t give amnesty to those who came here illegally,” he said.
The interview time wrapped up with Tagg underlining his father’s approach to Iraq and Afghanistan, most specifically, when the troops would come home. “ His goal would be to have our troops come home as quickly as possible, but not before the regions are stabilized,” he said.
The interview in its entirety has been set up as a podcast, and it can be heard by clicking here .
