“In junior high and high school I was really interested in Journalism,” Joyce said. “But Journalism was not popular for woman back then so I thought it would be tough to get a job so I thought, maybe I should go into teaching.”

Joyce did just that, she got two Master's Degrees, one in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Early Childhood Education, the other in Marriage and Family Therapy and became a teacher.

“I taught at Leona Cox, Valley View and my last 12 years were all with Sulpher Springs Elementary School,” Joyce said. “All of which was kindergarten and first grade, there was a lot of fresh energy.”
