McLean Picked As Vice-Chair Of High Speed Rail Authority

Long-time transit supporter to help lead Orangeline group.

Santa Clarita Councilmember Marsha McLean was
unanimously selected as Vice Chair of the Orangeline Maglev Development
Authority by the group’s Board of Directors. She will serve in that position
for the 2009 term.

Cerritos Mayor Pro-tem Bruce Barrows was
selected as Chairman and Vernon City Councilmember Michael McCormick was
selected to serve as the Authority’s Treasurer for next year.

“I am pleased to have been selected as Vice
Chair for the Orangeline Maglev Development Authority,” McLean
said. “Bringing this fast, convenient and environmentally sensitive mass
transit project to Southern
California is an incredible
investment in our future mobility as a region.”

The Orangeline Maglev Development Authority
is a joint powers agency (JPA) consisting of 14 cities seeking to pursue
development and deployment of the magnetic levitation train technology in Southern California.

The 14 JPA members include the cities of:
Artesia, Bell, Bellflower,
Cerritos, Cudahy, Downey, Glendale,
Huntington Park, Maywood,
Palmdale, Paramount, Santa Clarita, South Gate and Vernon.
