Organization to Host Annual Awards Dinner on May 2

Santa Clarita is a community filled with volunteers.Once a year the best of the bunch are honored by an appreciativemix of business professionals, family, non-profit leaders and theirpeers, who make up the Man & Woman of the Year Committee.

The Man & Woman of the Year committee honors two outstandingSanta Clarita citizens each year. Nominated by local not-for-profitorganizations, SCV’s most dedicated volunteers are publiclythanked for their community-minded contributions. A vote taken byprevious Man & Woman of the Year winners determines the mostcurrent recipients of this prestigious title.

All Santa Clarita-based non-profit organizations are encouraged tosubmit applications in appreciation of their finest un-paidsupporters. “The success of this event depends on thenon-profits of Santa Clarita. We will, of course, have a gorgeousevent – but the real purpose is to pay homage to theindividuals who work so hard to help our town prosper. Thenon-profits are our eyes and ears as to who is really making adifference in our community,” says Woman of the Year 2007Jeanna Crawford, who, along with Man of the Year 2007 Greg Nutter,is chairing the event.

“We hope that every non-profit considersparticipating,” encourages Nutter. “If anorganization’s volunteer is selected as Man or Woman of theYear, a portion of the night’s proceeds will be donated tothe nominating organization. The incentive goes beyond honoringoutstanding service; we are also a group of people who have astrong desire to help our non-profits however we can,” hecontinues.

The purpose of the Santa Clarita Valley Man & Woman of the YearRecognition Dinner is to honor men and women who have givenoutstanding volunteer service to the Santa Clarita Valley area.Volunteer service can be given as an individual or as a member of agroup or organization. Nominees are judged on their volunteereffort, years of service, number of organizations served and othercontributions.

The 42nd Annual Santa Clarita Valley Man & Woman of the Yearnominations are due by Friday, February 29, 2008. All submissionsmust be made online at www.scvmanandwomanoftheyear.org.
