Local Business Has 20th Birthday
Auto repair center now serving second generation of clients.
PACC Automotive, owned and operated by Dan Carpenter, is celebrating a coveted business milestone, 20 years of automotive service repair in both the import and domestic automotive repair industry. His business specializes in the service and repair of Honda, Acura, Toyota and Lexus on the import side and GM, Ford, Chrysler, and Jeep on the domestic side of the business.
“We are thrilled to be in business for 20 years,” said Carpenter. “This is America and the free enterprise system is still alive and well. “I opened PACC Auto in 1988 after I had been trained and worked in the automotive repair industry for 9 years. I have also enjoyed settling in the Santa Clarita Valley and raising my family here.
Carpenter says he started working for a gas station pumping gas, sweeping floors and changing oil at the age of 17. He loved cars and had the opportunity to attend General Motors’ automotive repair school, which was the start of his career. PACC Auto now employees 15 employees--3 service advisors, 11 technicians, and a quality control manager.
“Americans have a love affair with their cars and so do I,” said Carpenter. “A car is an investment and one that last for years if they take care of them. The goal is to keep up with technology to assist people in keeping their cars in the best running condition. Automotive technology is exploding just as it did with the advent of the Model T. Hybrid cars have presented us with a new driving mindset, as well as the need to re-train automotive technicians.”
Carpenter says he has been in business long enough, that now he works on his customer’s children’s cars – the second generation. He still remembers his first customer, Mr. Love who owned a red Honda CRX.
When asked what it means to be in business for 20 years, Carpenter said it’s an opportunity to serve the public every day, but that it has given him an opportunity to serve the community in which he lives in. PAAC Auto has assisted the Michael Hoefflin Foundation, Carousel Ranch, the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Foundation and a number of other charities in the community over the years. He takes great pride in sponsoring local athletic teams.
“Giving back to the community in which one lives is crucial to the growth and stability of the community,” Carpenter said. “In honor of our 20th Anniversary we are working with the William S. Hart High School District and College of the Canyons to establish an automotive scholarship program.”
What advices does Carpenter give people about automotive repair?
“No matter where you choose to have your car repaired,” said Carpenter. “It is crucial for a car owner to keep up with recommended maintenance thus sustaining the life of their cars. It’s when people ignore routine car repairs that car repair bills escalate. 30,000-mile services should be performed at 30,000 miles, 60,000-mile services should be performed at 60,000 miles. There is no such thing as a maintenance free car.”
PACC Automotive is located on Valencia Boulevard and Cinema Drive in the Valencia Autoplex Center.
