Our 2011 Sacramento Road Trip was March 21st and 22nd. We focused on Redevelopment, Health, Education, Enterprise Zones and the Peripheral Canal as our main topics.
Our Sacramento Road Trip Dedicated in the Memory of Former Assemblyman Keith Richman
Our Sacramento Road trip evolved from a conversation in the spring 2005 between our then Santa Clarita Assemblyman Keith Richman and KHTS co-owner Carl Goldman. One year later, our first Sacramento Road trip became a reality. This is now our 6th the ride.
Keith's successor, Assemblyman Cameron Smyth picked up Keith's baton and has continued to sponsor and assist in organizing our powerful program.
Our annual trip to Sacramento has a new twist this year. As part of its Professional Development program, College of the Canyons runs LEAP, which stands for Leadership Education in Action Program.
With the assistance of three of our major health organizations serving the Santa Clarita Valley, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, Providence Holy Cross Hospital and the Facey Medical Group, we’ve identified nine significant non-profits serving the Santa Clarita Valley who focus on mental health services.
With the understanding that Santa Clarita’s bright young minds are the city’s leaders of tomorrow, the Canyon Country Optimist Club is sending two students on the annual KHTS Sacramento Bus Trip.
