Local artists have been selected for the City of Santa Clarita’s Public Art Project which will feature their work on transit bus shelters across the Santa Clarita Valley.
The art will be posted in September on ten transit bus shelters to celebrate the Festival of the Arts held in Old Town Newhall.

“There is a tremendous amount of talent in this City, and the selected artworks truly show that the arts are alive in our community,” said Mayor Pro-tem Marsha McLean.
The City’s Arts and Events Office and the Santa Clarita Arts Commission issued a “Call for Artists” to seek artworks for the Art Stop Project public art program. The program will coincide with the City’s annual Festival of the Arts event held on October 2 and 3.
Artists who submitted work utilized a variety of techniques including, photography, painting and multimedia to express the theme “A Fresh Look.”
The selected artists are: Naomi Scully, Geraldine Jouvin, Barbara Carter, Natalie Franco, Natali Pineda Pezzini, Bob Hernandez, Ioana Urma and Cha-Rie Tang.
Each artist will receive a stipend of $200 in addition to having their work featured during the Festival of the Arts.
The Festival of the Arts is a weekend long event where guests can enjoy visual, multimedia and alternative artisans creating art from conception to completion. Residents can watch the unique process as street painters use over 5,472 pieces of pastels to paint a masterpiece in the middle of Main Street.
