Three hunters were taken to the hospital Thursday after a propane tank blew up in their motorhome in Gorman.

The trio, and another hunter who left before the men decided to gather in the trailer, had been hunting in Kern County. After the fourth hunter left, the three were sitting inside the motorhome and one man was playing around with a handgun, which went off and struck the propane tank, causing a small explosion and fire.

The three men crawled out of the trailer and into a nearby car, but were unable to get phone reception to call for help. They drove south on I-5 until they were able to make a connection, when they called the Los Angeles County fire department for help.

The three men were transported to a hospital in the Antelope Valley for treatment of burns on their hands and faces. The fourth was contacted to help fire officials locate the original trailer.
