Daylight Savings: Spring Forward This Weekend Print E-mail
Written by Jon Dell

In what may possibly be considered the best deal of the year, we will all trade one hour of sleep on Sunday morning for a lot more daylight through October.

Daylight Savings is this weekend, and time will officially be set forward one hour at 2:00 a.m. Sunday.

The change is practiced through most of the United States, and it provides more sunshine in the evening, often lasting through the 6 o'clock hour and beyond.

More daylight generally means a slightly easier commute for evening travelers, extended golf hours, and increased energy savings.

While the official change occurs at 2:00 a.m. Sunday, common practice is to set clocks ahead just before bedtime Saturday.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department also recommends replacing batteries in all smoke detectors during Daylight Savings time.
