Hometown Sports Report 1-7-07

League play starts tomorrow night for Foothill League basketball teams.  Here is a look at the pre-league final standings.  On the boy’s varsity side, Saugus enters league play on top of the pack, with a 13-2 record, while playing lock down defense.  The Centurions are winners of three straight heading into tomorrow night.  Defending league champion Hart is a close second at 14-3, followed by the best scoring team in the league, West Ranch at 12-4.  The Wildcats are riding a seven game win streak into league.  Valencia is 11-4, with Golden Valley (9-4) and Canyon (9-7) bringing up the rear.

On the girl’s side, the Centurions also are on top, boasting a 13-3 record as well as the leagues top defense.  Valencia and West Ranch are locked at 11-5; Canyon is 9-7, while defending league champion Hart is 7-6.  Golden Valley brings up the rear at 5-10.  You can catch all of the boy’s varsity action all season long; live on KHTS on Tuesday and Friday evenings.  We open league tomorrow night with an old-school match up; it’s the Centurions and the Vikings from Saugus High at 6:15, live on KHTS.

The Los Angeles Lakers won their 12th game in 15 tries, defeating Indiana, 112-96 last night, behind Andruw Bynum’s 23 points and 13 rebounds.

The Los Angeles Kings suffered a tough defeat to Calgary on Saturday, but will look to rebound tomorrow night against Nashville, immediately following basketball live on KHTS.
