Hometown Sports Report 1-18-08

The second week of Foothill League boy’s basketball comes to an end tonight, and all signs point to a great group of games.  The Canyon Cowboys and Saugus Centurions, gridlocked at 2-1 in league play, will do battle for the first time this year at Saugus High.  KHTS will have all of the action, live at 6:15pm.  The 2-1 West Ranch Wildcats head to Hart High, where Tom Kelly’s Indians look to rebound from two disappointing losses.  And finally, the red hot Valencia Vikings, 2-1 in league, host Golden Valley.  The Grizzlies are still in search of their first league win this season.

Foothill League girl’s basketball is just as competitive as the boy’s so far.  Saugus is 3-0 in league, but Hart, Valencia, and Canyon all are 2-1.  West Ranch and Golden Valley can shake things up tonight if either team records their first league win of 2008.

The Los Angeles Lakers were run out of Staples Center by Phoenix, 106-98.

The Anaheim Ducks improve their season-long point’s streak to eight games, beating Nashville, 2-1.  The Los Angeles Kings get back on the ice tonight, when they travel to Calgary to battle the Flames.  KHTS will have the conclusion of this game immediately following basketball.
