Hometown Sports Report 02-05-08

The final week of Foothill League basketball kicks off tonight and the action starts at West Ranch High School where the Wildcats boy’s will look to avenge a last minute loss to Hart early this year.  The Wildcats can still win league with a perfect week and some help from Saugus and Valencia.  KHTS will have all of the action from West Ranch, live at 6:15pm.  The Vikings take on Golden Valley, while the Centurions travel to Canyon High.

Congratulations to West Ranch High shooting guard Dave Franklin, this week’s Lockheed Player of the Week.

Franklin led the Wildcats to a near defeat of Saugus and an upset over league-leading Valencia, keeping West Ranch in position to win the Foothill League.

For his production, Lockheed Federal Credit Union will donate $250.00 to the West Ranch High athletics program.

Congratulations from everyone at Lockheed Federal Credit Union and your Hometown Station, AM-1220, KHTS.

Saugus shutout Hart 2-0 in a girl’s soccer matchup yesterday, putting the Centurions in control of their own season.  If Saugus wins out, they will be Foothill League Champions.

Hart High had big day off the field.  Football star Delano Howell grabbed another award, EA Sports Third Team All-American multi purpose player.  Then shortstop Trevor Matern accepted a baseball scholarship to the University of San Francisco.

The Los Angeles Kings take on the New York Rangers tonight; live on KHTS at 3:30pm.
