Hometown Recipes: Black Figs with Honey Mascarpone Cheese, Apple Smoked Bacon And Balsamic Reduction

    By Erin Walgamuth:

This time of year black figs are in just about every grocery store and I love figs! The recipe for this lovely and oh-so-elegant appetizer is not precise as you can adjust it to suit your taste. We love the combination of sweet meets savory and I must say that when I serve this starter there is not one little morsel left on the platter!

Hometown Recipes: Green Goddess Salad Dressing

    By Erin Walgamuth:

When I was a kid Green Goddess dressing was all the rage! Any time we went out to eat at a restaurant you could count on it being on the menu. There were Seven Seas Salad Dressing commercials on TV every day featuring Green Goddess dressing. So, of course, my parents served it on all of our salads for a long, long time!

    By Erin Walgamuth:

Ok, I just have to say I HATE THIS WEATHER….there, I feel better. I don’t want to do much of anything when it’s this hot, especially cook! Well, no matter how miserable it is outside we have to eat right? The only thing that appeals to me these days is anything cold, hence this recipe. I feel a bit strange even calling this a recipe because of its ridiculous simplicity, but here goes.

    By Erin Walgamuth

The son of a dear friend of ours left for Boot Camp a few weeks ago. We were to be at their home for a going-away party/bbq and when I asked Josh what he would like me to make he said “Lemon bars!”

Hometown Recipes: Peach And Almond Rustic Tartlets

    By Erin Walgamuth

Don’t you love the aroma of a summer peach? I have had four sitting on my kitchen counter for about a week now, their lovely fragrance is the first thing I smell when I walk into the kitchen each morning….well, besides the coffee. They needed to be eaten so I decided to make some little tarts.

Around this time of year the tomato plants in my vegetable garden are heavy with ripened fruit. My family and I look forward to the addition of these luscious gems to our weekly meals.

One of our favorites is a simple pasta sauce that is packed with flavor and fills the kitchen with a wonderful aroma.

Hometown Recipes: Mandarin Orange Soda and Vanilla Ice Cream Float

    By Erin Walgamuth

I realize that this is a ridiculously simple dessert suggestion, but when you don’t have a refrigerator you have to think fast!!

    Hometown Recipes: Grilled Flat Bread

    By Erin Walgamuth

What do you do with frozen Bridgford Bread Dough when your refrigerator stops working and your ice cream turns to soup? You make flat bread to grill on the BBQ! Yep, I’m sorry to say that we got the bad news yesterday; it’s the compressor….aaarrrgggghh! So, the good news is that I made grilled flat bread and it was good so I thought you might enjoy it too.
