Thin And Crispy Hula Pizza Recipe By Chef Dawn Walker

This is a super quick and easy dinner that even kids can prepare.

If you have left over meat or chicken,  you can certainly add it.  We like to add bacon sometimes too!

Thin and Crispy Hula Pizza Recipe

4 tortillas (10 inch or larger is best)

    8 Tablespoons barbeque sauce

    4 ounces goat cheese

Saucy Turkey-Stuffed Portabellos Recipe With Whole Wheat Spaghetti

Our family LOVES mushrooms so this recipe is, of course, a homerun for dinner. This can be prepared the same day as serving or fully prepared and cooked days before serving.

To remove the gills from the large mushrooms, first pop off the stem and then simply scoop the gills off the under side of the mushrooms with a spoon.

Shrimp Tostadas, Hometown Recipes With Chef Dawn Walker

I usually prepare this recipe on Sunday for use during the week.  It takes about 20 minutes but it is worth it.

If your family doesn't eat shrimp, you can use rotisserie or left over chicken and skip the part of the recipe regarding cooking the shrimp.

    Shrimp Tostadas Recipe

1/2 cup non-fat plain Greek yogurt

Hometown Recipes: Fettuccini With Shrimp And Creamy Tomato Sauce

This is a standard in my house.  Its a 10 by everyone's tastes! The pasta reheats well but the shrimp over cooks when you reheat.  However, that doesn't seem to bother the kids.

To prevent the shrimp and pasta from over cooking, slightly undercook both first.  When they are added to the sauce later, they will finish cooking perfectly.

Hometown Recipes: Nana's Crazy-Good Chicken Wings

When I bring my Nana's chicken wings to a party, the crowd goes crazy.  These wings are easy to make but take a while to cook.

They also taste better reheated the second and third day.

    Nana's Crazy-Good Chicken Wings Recipe

    1 cup soy sauce

Hometown Recipes With Chef Dawn Walker: Hot Artichoke Dip Recipe

Just in time for Christmas and New Years, Here is a family recipe for hot artichoke dip.  This is the easiest recipe to make and usually the hit at any party.  If you like spicy - add some fresh jalapenos slices or dices for a nice kick!

    Hot Artichoke Dip Recipe

1 can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped fine

Hometown Recipes With Chef Dawn Walker: Chicken Romano

I created about 30 recipes that use boneless-skinless chicken breasts and this is part of that collection.

You can get boneless, skinless chicken breast at any market.  I prefer fresh chicken (although most of it comes frozen from the packer.) If I buy frozen, I like ones that are IQF... or individually quick frozen. For food items that are IQF, they are frozen at a low temperature very quickly.

Hometown Recipes: Romaine Wedges With Tangy Blue Cheese Vinaigrette

You know when you find the perfect recipe? It is the recipe that you want to write down, take a picture of, put on the bulletin board? Epicurious.com is one of my favorite sites to get recipes and ideas. I like Epicurious because I can find tested recipes with comments from chef's and home cooks alike.

This recipe for Romaine Wedges with Tangy Blue Cheese Vinaigrette is my go to recipe when I am making a salad for home or taking to someone's house. The recipe was featured in Bon Appetit in April, 2008. Users rated it four stars and 100% would make it again.

Grilled Corn Chowder Hometown Recipe, By Chef Dawn Walker

Now that it is cooling down a bit, I like to get in the kitchen and prepare soups and stews.  My family loves soup, specially when I provide a bunch of toppings for them to "customize" their meal.  This recipe was featured in the July 2013 of Better Homes and Gardens however I have altered it a bit from its original form.
