Holy Cross Reception To Feature Renowned Artist

Armenian artist Shmavon Shmavonian donates piece.

Sponsored By:

Tuesday, March 18th will give people a chance to meet internationally renowned Armenian Artist Shmavon Shmavonian and join the Foundation for the unveiling of the painting he has donated to the Providence Holy Cross Medical Center.  The unveiling will be followed by a wine, hors d’oeuvres and dessert reception and the exhibition and sale of Shmavon’s fine art.

This donation is part of a growing healing arts program for Providence Holy Cross Medical Center. According to Providence Holy Cross, the purpose of the program is much more important than aesthetics.  They say it is a vital part of their mission, helping to heal “the whole person – body, mind and spirit.”

Sooner or later, most of us find ourselves in a medical setting, whether as patients, caregivers or visitors.  Holy Cross believes that art transforms these typically sterile spaces into warmer, more humane places that nourish the sense of wellbeing, improve recuperation and boost staff morale.

In fact, neurophysiologists now accept that art, prayer and healing all come from the same source in the body.  They are all associated with similar brain wave patterns and mind/body changes and are deeply connected with feeling and meaning.

The reception will be held at the North Building Conference Room   at Providence Holy Cross on March 18th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. RSVP’s are expected by March 14th, and they can be made by calling 818.898.4600.
