Hit And Run Accident Kills Young Boy
14 year old boy killed.
A major traffic collision prompted the closure of at least four lanes on the I-5 northbound just before the 14 junction. The accident took place shortly after 10:00pm Tuesday night and reportedly involved four vehicles and one pedestrian.
A vehicle was disabled in the #3 lane when, for unknown reasons, a 14 year old passenger got out of the car and tried to flag down traffic. The boy was then hit by a truck, suffering fatal injuries. The vehicle which hit the boy then fled the scene, and the CHP is now on the hunt for the truck, which is described as a large dark colored dually pickup pulling a stake-bed trailer.
No other injuries were reported.
A Sigalert was issued for the freeway because traffic was heavily impacted. That Sigalert expired at 11:45pm Tuesday.
By Wednesday morning the accident had been cleared.
